The U.S. Supreme Court to Hear Trump Tariff Case, Argument Scheduled for Early November
BlockBeats News, September 10th. On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to rule on the legality of Trump's imposition of global tariffs. Previously, a lower court ruled that most of the tariffs imposed by Trump were acts of exceeding authority, rendering the tariffs invalid.
Following the Trump administration's request last week for the Supreme Court to review this case, the Court promptly took action. The Supreme Court will expedite the review of this case, scheduling oral arguments in the first week of November. The justices also agreed to hear another challenge to Trump's tariffs brought by the family toy company Learning Resources.
BlockBeats previously reported that on September 3rd, on Tuesday local time, U.S. President Trump, in the Oval Office of the White House, told reporters that his administration would ask the Supreme Court to expedite a ruling on the global tariffs case in order to overturn the federal court's judgments that multiple tariffs were illegal. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the current trade policy. Trump stated that his administration would file an appeal with the Supreme Court as soon as Wednesday local time and warned that if the previous court's ruling on the appeal took effect, it would have a "devastating impact on our country."
