SEC Commissioner: New Liquidity Pledge Statement May Not Reflect Actual Circumstances

By: theblockbeats.news|2025/08/07 03:12:04

BlockBeats News, August 7th, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw published a statement on the SEC's website stating that the new liquidity mining guidance failed to clarify the application of federal securities laws to crypto assets and instead exacerbated confusion. The statement is based on a series of untested industry assumptions, and the legal conclusions apply only if these assumptions hold true.

Earlier, the SEC issued a statement regarding liquidity mining activities, explicitly stating that liquidity mining activities are not considered securities. The SEC stated that participants in liquidity mining activities do not need to register transactions with the Securities and Exchange Commission under the Securities Act, nor do they need to comply with the Securities Act's registration exemption requirements for these liquidity mining activities.
