Odaily News Simon Gerovich, CEO of Japanese Bitcoin reserve company Metaplanet, plans to participate in the acquisition of a controlling stake in South Korea-listed software service company SGA. If the transaction is finally completed, SGA will implement a broader digital asset strategy by acquiring Bitcoin. Although Simon Gerovich participated as an independent investor rather than on behalf of Metaplanet, the move is consistent with Metaplanets growing Bitcoin reserve strategy. The acquisition is part of a strategy to accelerate the adoption of Bitcoin by Asian companies, transforming traditional companies into Bitcoin-linked entities through transactions, making companies such as SGA a tool for Bitcoin investment in regional capital markets.
Metaplanet announced yesterday that it had purchased 797 BTC at a price of approximately $117,451 per Bitcoin, with a total transaction amount of approximately $93.6 million, and achieved a 435.9% Bitcoin return so far in 2025. As of July 14, 2025, Metaplanet holds a total of 16,352 BTC, with a cumulative purchase cost of approximately $1.64 billion and an average purchase price of approximately $100,191 per coin.
