BlockBeats News, January 5th, due to the US ousting Venezuelan President Maduro, the British pound fell against the US dollar but rose to a two-and-a-half-month high against the euro. Analysts at Monex Europe pointed out in a report that the dollar's performance was boosted by safe-haven demand triggered by geopolitical tensions in Venezuela and Iran.

They stated that the euro showed a higher sensitivity to trade disruptions, prompting the British pound to perform well against the euro, although this trend may be temporary. They believe: "Entering 2026, we see that the UK's domestic political environment continues to be unfavorable for economic growth and the pound." In contrast, the euro may benefit from Eurozone fiscal policy stimulating growth. (FX168)
