Opinion: Fed Chair Powell May Stay Neutral at Jackson Hole Symposium
BlockBeats News, August 21st, T. Rowe Price's Chief U.S. Economist Blerina Uruci stated that Federal Reserve Chairman Powell's speech at the Jackson Hole meeting may emphasize maintaining maximum flexibility for the upcoming FOMC meetings and indicate that the policy path will depend on inflation and labor market data.
She pointed out that before the Fed meeting on September 17th, there will also be an employment report and a CPI report. If inflation rises significantly or the labor market shows a strong recovery, the likelihood of keeping rates unchanged at the next meeting is higher; if August job growth falls below 50,000 per month and the unemployment rate rises, a dovish rate cut of 50 basis points may occur.
