Romania Bans Polymarket for Operating Without a License

BlockBeats News, November 1st, according to DL News, the Romanian National Office for Gambling (ONJN) blacklisted Polymarket on Thursday for operating without a license. ONJN classified betting on the prediction markets as "counterparty betting" rather than trading. In Romania, the gambling industry is a state monopoly, and operators must first apply for and obtain a license from the National Office for Gambling to conduct business. The Romanian regulator stated in a release that "the decision to blacklist Polymarket is not related to the technology but to the law."
Coinbase is planning to acquire stablecoin infrastructure BVNK for around $2 billion.
Web3 platform KapKap has completed a $10 million seed round, with Animoca Brands leading the investment.
