Salvadoran President: To celebrate Bitcoin Day, today we have acquired an additional 21 BTC

BlockBeats News, September 8th, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele announced that to celebrate Bitcoin Day, today the country has acquired an additional 21 bitcoins. According to data from the Salvadoran Ministry of Finance website, El Salvador's current Bitcoin holdings have reached 6,312.18 bitcoins, worth over 700 million U.S. dollars.


Yesterday marked the fourth anniversary of El Salvador adopting Bitcoin as legal tender. On September 7, 2021, El Salvador officially became the world's first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. President Nayib Bukele promoted the Salvadoran Congress to pass the "Bitcoin Law" in June 2021, which stipulates that Bitcoin can be used for the payment of goods, services, taxes, etc., alongside the U.S. dollar as legal tender. The Salvadoran government subsequently launched the digital wallet "Chivo," allowing citizens to store and use Bitcoin, providing registered users with a $30 Bitcoin bonus, and also deployed Bitcoin ATMs nationwide to facilitate transactions.
