The US Bureau of Labor Statistics currently has one-third of its senior positions vacant

By: theblockbeats.news|2025/09/09 15:02:35

BlockBeats News, September 9th. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics website, the agency responsible for producing key U.S. employment and inflation data, one-third of its senior positions are vacant. While an acting head has been appointed, a series of other leadership positions responsible for overseeing various aspects of employment statistics and field operations at the regional level remain unfilled.

According to sources familiar with the matter, many employees who have worked at the agency for decades have accepted the Trump administration's offer of delayed resignation in recent months. The dismissal of the agency's head by U.S. President Trump last month has posed a challenge to the agency, which has about 2,000 career employees.

Due to a federal hiring freeze that will continue until October 15th, it is currently unclear whether the lower-level positions responsible for data collection and analysis can be filled quickly. (Jin10)
