Two "Bitcoin Kidnapping Torture Case" Suspects Granted Bail in Manhattan Court
BlockBeats News, July 25th, according to protos report, two men accused of kidnapping a Bitcoin trader and attempting to force him to hand over his private keys using a chainsaw, a firearm, and a stun gun have been granted bail.
A Manhattan judge on Wednesday agreed to release John Woeltz and William Duplessie on $1 million bail each. The two men face a total of 12 charges and have both pleaded not guilty. The court also required them to wear electronic monitoring devices and surrender their passports.
Woeltz and Duplessie have been in custody since May of this year. Prosecutors have accused the two men of luring an unidentified Italian crypto trader to Woeltz's townhouse in SoHo and unlawfully detaining him there for two weeks, during which they subjected him to various forms of torture. This included violence with a firearm, a stun gun, and a chainsaw, and even dousing him with tequila and setting him on fire.
