CryptoJacking

By: WEEX|2024/10/25 08:11:00

CryptoJacking refers to the unauthorized use of a person’s computing resources to mine cryptocurrencies. This form of cyberattack involves installing malware on a victim’s device—such as a computer, smartphone, or even a server—which then runs mining software in the background without the user’s knowledge. The malicious actor profits from the mined cryptocurrency while the victim experiences slower device performance, increased energy consumption, and potential overheating. CryptoJacking has become a popular attack method because it does not require direct interaction with the victim and can go unnoticed for extended periods. To protect against CryptoJacking, users should install reliable security software, keep systems updated, and monitor their device performance.
