ERC-1155 is a unique Ethereum token standard designed to handle multiple types of assets, both fungible and non-fungible, in a single contract. Developed by Enjin, ERC-1155 was created to improve efficiency in handling tokens, especially in gaming and NFT ecosystems. With ERC-1155, developers can deploy a single contract to represent multiple token types, such as currency, equipment, or collectibles, reducing storage and gas fees. This standard also supports batch transfers, meaning multiple tokens can be transferred in a single transaction, which further optimizes efficiency. A practical example is in blockchain games, where a player might trade multiple in-game assets, such as gold (fungible) and a sword (non-fungible), all in a single transaction. ERC-1155's versatility makes it a preferred standard for platforms like Enjin and OpenSea.
