LP Tokens
LP Tokens, or Liquidity Provider Tokens, are tokens issued to users who provide liquidity to decentralized exchanges (DEXs) like Uniswap or PancakeSwap. When a user deposits assets into a liquidity pool, they receive LP tokens representing their share of the pool. These tokens can be used to redeem the user's original deposit, plus any trading fees earned while their assets were in the pool. LP tokens can also be staked on other DeFi platforms to earn additional rewards, creating opportunities for yield farming. However, LP tokens are subject to risks like impermanent loss, making it important for users to understand the potential downsides before providing liquidity.
