Scaling Solution
Scaling solutions refer to technologies or methods designed to improve the scalability of blockchain networks by increasing their capacity to handle more transactions efficiently. Blockchain networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum can face congestion, leading to high transaction fees and slow processing times, especially during peak usage. To address these issues, various scaling solutions are developed to optimize transaction throughput without compromising decentralization or security. There are two main types of scaling solutions: Layer-1, which involves improvements to the base blockchain protocol (e.g., sharding), and Layer-2, which operates off-chain (e.g., sidechains or rollups). Example: Lightning Network is a Layer-2 scaling solution for Bitcoin that enables faster transactions by processing them off-chain and settling them later on the main blockchain.
