What Is SLAY and How Does It Work?
What is SLAY?
SatLayer (SLAY) is a cryptocurrency and platform designed to integrate Bitcoin into decentralized finance (DeFi) and other applications by acting as a "economic layer for Bitcoin". It allows users to stake or restake Bitcoin-backed assets, like wrapped Bitcoin or liquid staking tokens, to secure various decentralized applications and protocols. This process, known as Bitcoin Validated Services (BVS), aims to enhance Bitcoin's security and scalability by leveraging its underlying strength.

How Does SLAY Work?
Restaking Bitcoin:
SatLayer enables users to restake their Bitcoin holdings or Bitcoin-backed assets to secure applications and protocols built on the platform.
Bitcoin Validated Services (BVS):
By utilizing Babylon's CosmWasm chain and smart contracts, SatLayer allows developers to build applications that leverage Bitcoin's security for their operations.
Programmable Slashing:
SatLayer incorporates programmable slashing mechanisms, meaning that if a validator misbehaves while securing a service, a portion of their staked Bitcoin can be slashed as a penalty.
Incentives and Rewards:
Users who stake their Bitcoin or Bitcoin-backed assets are rewarded for securing the network and supporting the various applications built on SatLayer.
Integration with other chains:
SatLayer is designed to work across multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, and BitLayer.
Expansion of Bitcoin's Utility:
By enabling Bitcoin to be used as collateral in DeFi and other applications, SatLayer aims to unlock Bitcoin's potential beyond its traditional use cases.
